Hobart Eat + Drink Guide (ft. Pitt & Giblin)

For music lovers, Hobart is home to a collection of standout venues where great food and drink are matched with an exceptional listening experience through various Pitt & Giblin speakers. From intimate wine bars to lively dining rooms, each offers its own unique atmosphere.

We've rounded up a hit list of our favs to help you discover the best of Hobart's hospitality, architecture, and hi-fi culture.

OGEE

374 Murray St, North Hobart TAS 7000

The ogee arch, in architectural terms, is symbolic of a meeting place of two curves.

28 seats, the epitome of a small neighbourhood restaurant, inspired by the timeless quality of European bistros.

They take influence from everything local and Tasmanian in all of it’s glory, alongside French and Italian cultural and culinary traditions, to present something humble, yet finessed.

SONNY

120a Elizabeth St, Hobart TAS 7000

Sonny is a highly popular, intimate Italian wine bar located in the heart of the Hobart CBD.

Known for its lively atmosphere, great vinyl records, and no-reservations policy, it seats only around 20 people and serves handmade pasta and lo-fi wines straight off a chalkboard menu.

Sonny operates on a "simple pleasures" philosophy. The tiny, cozy space is dominated by a long hardwood bar, where staff spin records from a personal vinyl collection over locally made Pitt & Giblin speakers.

The atmosphere is a perfect balance of boisterous, sophisticated, and incredibly welcoming.

Restaurant Maria

Brooke Street Pier, Hobart TAS 7000

The brainchild of chef and co-owner Christian Ryan, Maria was first conceptualised in 2020.

3 months in covid lockdown was a blessing in disguise, serving as Christian’s catalyst for dreaming up a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant (“boredom breeds creativity”, they say).

Not only was the food and dining culture of that region always a personal favourite, but Christian also thought it was something under-represented in Hobart.

The idea lingered in the back of his mind waiting for the right opportunity to arise; then in 2023, he and his business partner Will Priestly were presented with the perfect venue to finally bring the concept to life, and Maria was born.

The food ethos at Maria is simple: to provide a premium Mediterranean-inspired dining experience, with a delectable menu celebrating the finest of local and Australian-sourced produce, and traditional Mediterranean flavours and cooking techniques.

DON FRICO

22 Montpelier Retreat, Battery Point TAS 7004

Don Frico is a New York–style slice joint and cocktail bar built for people who like their slices hot and their nights loud. They serve NY style pizza by the slice — thin, foldable, crisp, and made for eating with your hands — alongside cold beers, strong cocktails and delicious small plates.

As the sun goes down, the tables are pushed back and The Ticcle DJs spin records till late, setting the soundtrack for after-work drinks, late-night slices, and nights that roll on longer than planned.

Good times only. Come for a slice, stay for the music, lose track of time.

The Still, LARK Whisky Bar
( GOTHAM at The Still )

30 Argyle St, Hobart TAS 7000

Located in the historic Mercury Print Room on Argyle Street, The Still is LARK’s flagship whisky and cocktail bar — a space where Tasmania’s world class spirits take centre stage.

By day, it’s a retail and tasting room; by night, it transforms into a suave yet comfortable whisky and cocktail lounge, celebrated for its atmosphere, service, and exceptional spirit selection.

Whether you’re enjoying a whisky flight, sipping a cocktail at the bar, or settling into the low lit lounge for a late night whisky, The Still delivers a premium experience that reflects the spirit and craftsmanship of Tasmania.

OURS

80 Melville St, Hobart TAS 7000

Pitt & Giblin is thrilled to be able to offer a real showcase of our products at our listening space in Hobart city - at Ours.

Just a few blocks away from the city centre is our purpose built space, where all our products are ready to listen to for demonstration, however the space also operates for private and occasional public music focussed events, and is also available as a space for hire.

OGEE GUESTHOUSE

374 Murray St, North Hobart TAS 7000

Nestled in the heart of North Hobart, The Guesthouse is a thoughtfully renovated townhouse located adjacent to the Ogee restaurant.

The space embodies the essence of Ogee, with warm tones, soft lighting, and luxurious design features that encourage guests to relax and immerse themselves in good food, great music, and genuine hospitality.
